And that is why I fail...

Fri Nov 13, 2009, 5:52 AM
  • Mood: Stuck
  • Listening to: my heart, there's nothing else I can do
  • Reading: "a conflict of visions" Thomas Sowell
  • Watching: life pass me by
  • Playing: Borderlands
  • Eating: cereal
  • Drinking: coffee
So I now have a glorious job in retail, selling the chintzy detritus of misguided capitalists, whose fortunes and feculent advertising are built upon the piles of money given them by people with little wisdom, bountiful pocketbooks and sufficient girth to measure doorways with their thighs. With “Christmas” beginning immediately after Halloween, the rush of people to buy the useless crap we sell has been appreciably larger. The long and short of it is, I’m working almost every day. This combined with my recent recovery form the swine flu (yes I had it, no I didn’t get the vaccine, and yes I’m better now) I have been either sick in bed, at work, or sick at work, purell-ing my hands like mad, and singing the praises of scrabble and mad-libs to people with screaming infants. The Mars Corporation owes me a great deal, they have repaid via the stipend that comes in the form of my meager paycheck that will be consumed in its entirety once I start collage in January.

I have, however had a brief stint wherein my father and I partook in Borderlands. it is a fun game . I absolutely love it. I play Roland because I'm awesome like that.

I haven’t really had the appropriate combination of free time, available materials and wellness of being to do much more art than pitiful scrawlings on post-it notes. I have, however, embarked upon the development of a full fledged comic project, with a plot and everything. I’m not sure how all of it will play out, but rest assured; something will happen. Eventually.

Ah, I kept meaning to reply to your comment on this pic [link] about the fabric. It's really quite easy, actually :D Want me to explain?

Also, of course, thanks for the comment <3

It's easier to explain with an image, so here: [link] That is how that same image looks with the blending mode set to the default "Normal" in Photoshop. As you can see, what you have to do is first paint it so that black spots represent clear spots, white represents the fully opaque, and shades of grey represent the in between. Obviously, you can also tint with colours as desired, and work in patterns, as long as their values match that of the grey (or not--depends on the look you want).

Then, it's as easy as setting the Layer blending mode to Screen, and the magic happens -- it appears as in the image I posted here on DA :D

Very easy, and pretty darn effective! Hope it helps :3
